Happy Marine day!

Marine day is a national holiday that celebrates the ocean and its influence on Japan. I, and thousands of my closest friends, flooded the streets of the Nagoya Port for food, parades, fireworks, and zero personal space.

Seriously. No personal space.

We were probably half a mile from the fireworks and we were still packed in like sardines.

The food was delicious though!

This picture doesn’t do this crepe justice. The great thing about Japan sweets are that they aren’t overly sweet. This crepe had bananas, chocolate sauce and a lightly sweetened cream.

Ultimately, it was an interesting first festival experience but I’m keen to have another with a few less people. Maybe a nice neighborhood festival.

I did, however, get a drink in a lightbulb! And I ordered it in Japanese!
